this is beautiful to watch...

don't buy what you don't need

Patagonia is at it again!  (Thank goodness...) Boldly telling us this holiday season not to buy stuff we don't need.  Reminding us to put thought into everything we buy for ourselves and others.  Reminding us to take into consideration all the energy and materials that went into that product.

Take the Patagonia Common Threads Initiative pledge here, and ask yourself, "Do I really need that?"

cosmic love

this florence + the machine song went so well with the falling rain pitter-pattering on my car today while winding through the wet roads.  the video only adds to the fall frenzy of leaves.  however, the ones here are super soggy now...

A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow
I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

ancient treasures

ayuthaya.  the ancient thai capital lays in ruins a couple of hours by train north of bangkok.  we spent the day on bicycle crossing from one section of ancient palases to the next, taking our time, taking in the pieces of great buddha statues that were destroyed in raids by the northern burmese hundreds of years ago.  it was truly a magical experience.  it is sad to say that only a month after our visit to ayuthaya, the "island", as it is encompassed by two rivers, was covered by the spring flood of 2012.

my backyard

oh man is it good to be back in northwest for autumn.  the leaves are constantly falling now in an array of vibrantly warm colors.  a little venture into my backyard leaves me with a ton of beautiful pictures of all sorts of flora, and one fauna...
